Linda M. Gaudiani
MD, FACP, FACE

Medical Director, President and Co-Founder Linda M. Gaudiani, MD, FACP, FACE, graduated from Bryn Mawr College with honors, and Boston University School of Medicine with distinction. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Boston City Hospital, her Internal Medical residency at Stanford University Medical Center and was then awarded an NIH Fellowship in Nutrition at UC Berkeley, California. While studying at UC Berkeley, she practiced Primary Care at the Cowell Memorial Student Health Center and started a family. 

She went on to her fellowship and board certifications in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism at UCSF Medical Center. She was the recipient of the Dorothy Frank Diabetes Fellowship in recognition of her special interest in Diabetes. She was appointed to UCSF clinical faculty in 1985 and served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine for over two decades teaching medical students weekly in her private practice. Dr. Gaudiani was elected to receive a Golden Cane Award for best clinical volunteer faculty in 2008. 

Dr. Gaudiani formed her career-long partnership with Dr. Bernstein in 1988, starting Marin Endocrine Associates and later Marin Endocrine Care and Research with him. She continued in uninterrupted endocrinology consulting practice at Marin Endocrine Care and Research and served as President for over 20 years. She was an active staff consulting endocrinologist, and now honorary staff, of MarinHealth Medical Center (formerly Marin General Hospital) for over 35 years where she developed and served as Medical Director of the Keys to Control Diabetes Inpatient Care Program. In 2014 Dr. Gaudiani co-founded the Braden Diabetes Center, and was the Medical Director, serving for the last decade. She previously served on the Board and as President of the Marin Chapter of the American Diabetes Association and has been an active professional member of the ADA for over 35 years. She was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Endocrinology. In 2022, she became a Medical Director at Lifescan Global Medical Corporation.

Dr. Gaudiani now continues her clinical research full time as President, Principal Investigator and Medical Director of NorCal Medical Research. She is also an active industry consultant, speaker and writer in her field of endocrinology, diabetes and weight loss management. She co-authored a chapter in the ADA sponsored book, “Managing Diabetes and Hyperglycemia in the Hospital Setting” and continues to co-author articles in her field in both peer reviewed journals, locally and online.

Her personal hobbies have included local musical theater participation and playing many sports. She loves “culinary medicine,” and has developed an expanding collection of healthy and delicious recipes, which she calls her “Diab-Eatery.” Her recipes promote creative but simple home prepared meals especially designed to share with family, friends, patients with diabetes and everyone interested in good nutrition to maintain optimal health, and the joy of wholesome fresh foods. Her own family of four children is multiplying with the addition of sons- and daughters-in- “loves,” six grandchildren so far, extended families and friends, as well as her beloved dog, Logan. wi

Richard Bernstein, MD

As of January 1st, 2019 Dr. Richard Bernstein is retired, but remains a friend and colleague after a career of over 45 years in medical practice. He continues to consult with MECR&R now NorCal Medical Research, and maintains Emeritus status in our organization. We salute him for his long and successful practice and for his early, innovative involvement in clinical research.

Elizabeth Lowe, MD 

Dr. Elizabeth Lowe is a California native. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of the Pacific as a scholarship athlete and competitive swimmer and later moved to Chicago where she received her medical education and residency training in both adult internal medicine and pediatric medicine, being elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and obtaining board certification in both specialties. She returned to Marin in 2000 where she has practiced medicine for more than 20 years, developing relationships with a large network of specialists in both Marin and San Francisco and ultimately becoming Director of Primary Care for the Marin Health Medical Network. In 2021 she was recognized by her physician peers and the Marin Healthcare District for her outstanding leadership in response to the COVID-19 pandemic on the Covid Task Force in Marin.

Dr. Lowe believes wholeheartedly that practicing medicine is a partnership between physicians and patients on their journey towards better health. She is a strong advocate for lifestyle changes first, and medication second, and works hard to encourage her patients to maintain this focus. She believes in incorporating evidence-based medicine along with a holistic approach that leads to a healthier mind, body and spirit.

Dr. Lowe is excited to join the NorCal team and is enjoying the new challenges at NorCal. 

Irene Teper, MD

Dr. Irene Teper is a transplant from Buffalo, NY. She moved to San Francisco for residency training right after finishing SUNY at Buffalo Medical School. Immediately after graduation, Dr. Teper started her own practice in Novato, joining two other Internists. She was active at Novato Community Hospital and served as Chair of Medicine there for many years. In 2011, her group joined Marin Health. Throughout her career, Dr. Teper served on numerous committees and on the Board of MarinHealth Medical Network. In 2018, she opened and managed Marin’s first Adult After Hours Clinic, and in March of 2020 converted it to a COVID clinic, which served all non-Kaiser Marin residents. She then joined a colleague on a Mobile Unit, which in coordination with Marin Department of Public Health, went out to Marin Residential care facilities and low-income areas. There, she supervised and was directly involved in testing patients for COVID, providing education and advice, and helping to prevent or limit the spread of infection.

Dr. Teper is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. She maintains privileges at MarinHealth Medical Center and Novato Community Hospital.

Dr. Teper is thrilled to join the NorCal team and is looking forward to adding her skills to the challenges at NorCal.

Dr. Teper has two  children and lives in Lucas Valley with her husband Michael and their dog Hugo. Having been born and spent her childhood in the former Soviet Union, Dr. Teper is fluent in Russian. She studied Spanish in high school and college and has conversational knowledge of Spanish.
